What's CITY Talking About

🏈 Broncos Present Stadium Plans to Community Members
La Alma Lincoln Park residents voiced concerns over traffic congestion and displacement last week as the Broncos revealed updated plans for a new 150-acre stadium development at Burnham Yards. The team’s president said the actual stadium capacity is yet to be decided, but that they’re planning for “between 5 and 7 million square feet of development.” The Broncos also proposed extending an RTD rail line through the area and over West 13th Avenue. Construction could begin in 2027. [Denver Post]
👀 Kimbal Musk Dated Woman Allegedly Trafficked by Epstein
After Kimbal Musk’s name appeared at least 140 times in emails exchanged between Jeffrey Epstein and associates and an email from Musk suggested Epstein and an associate “played a role” in connecting Musk with a woman, the Colorado restaurateur posted on social that he didn’t meet the woman, who Musk claims was 30, through Epstein. Now, it appears the woman in question was allegedly sexually abused and trafficked by Epstein for nearly a decade, according to court records from an anonymous civil suit and news reports that likely contradict Musk’s assertion that he met the woman through a different friend. ⚖️ Could Sex Work Become Legal in CO?
A state bill introduced last Wednesday would decriminalize commercial sexual activity among consenting adults. The bill also includes a repeal of criminal offenses for prostitution and soliciting, regulations for “local licensing authorities,” protections for trafficking victims, and maintaining felonies for pimping. If passed, it would make Colorado the second state in the country to legalize sex work. The measure now awaits a Senate hearing. [Westword]
⚖️ GES Community Members Send Good Neighbor Agreement to Data Center Company
A group of neighbors from the Globeville Elyria-Swansea communities has put forth a proposal to CoreSite — the company that owns DE3, a data center currently under construction in the area — that would address concerns over clean air monitoring, water usage by the facility, and more. The document also references the decades of pollution issues faced by the mostly working-class community. The neighborhood group has asked CoreSite to respond to the proposal by Feb. 24. Correction: We shared the story last week about the prominent real estate developer, Chad McWhinney, being identified in the Epstein files, and should clarify that it was his lawyer's assertion that the person in the redacted photo with McWhinney was a 30-year-old ex-girlfriend. We have not been able to confirm the age or identity of the person obscured in the photograph.
