What's CITY Talking About

I agree. It does look mean. But I think that the issue with videos like this is they don't tell the full story. … The bleach feels extreme, but also extreme is the conditions the food is being held in, and we just can’t let that happen.

🚫 Health Officials Defend Viral Bleach Pouring Video

A video taken over the weekend that appears to show Denver health inspectors pouring bleach on food being sold and served at a street food stand is blowing up on social media. The city’s health department confirmed to us that its inspectors will sometimes use bleach as an immediate and effective way to shut down a food operation that is violating health codes. 🏘️ ‘Work First’ Homeless Shelter Open in Aurora

The Aurora Regional Navigation Campus is now open in the former Crowne Plaza hotel and convention center at Chambers Road and 40th Avenue. Operating on a three-tier system, residents who can prove they are looking for work and staying sober will get nicer accommodations. Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman says the idea is to “incentivize” the people staying there. [Denverite]

  • How it works: “Tier 1” guests get a cot in a congregate area and a few cold meals. “Tier 2” guests get a semi-private room, access to a locker, and three hot meals. “Tier 3” guests (who must be sober and employed) can pay a third of their monthly income to rent their own private room.
