⚾ Rockies Hire ~Famous~ New GM

The Rockies have hired Paul DePodesta as their new president of baseball operations. DePodesta brings experience from his time with the Oakland A’s, LA Dodgers, NY Mets, Cleveland Guardians (formerly Indians), and Cleveland Browns (yes, football). But perhaps you will also recognize his likeness from the 2011 movie “Moneyball” about the Oakland A’s, starring Brad Pitt. DePodesta inspired the character Peter Brand, played by Jonah Hill. The cutback is a result of the federal shutdown which is dragging into week six, the longest in U.S. history. DIA officials say the situation remains manageable, and while most airlines say the “vast majority” of flight routes will be unimpacted, they're encouraging travelers to book backup flights to be safe.
