What's CITY Talking About

🏳️‍🌈 The Center on Colfax Vandalized

Denver police are investigating an act of vandalism that took place over the weekend at the LGBTQ community space, The Center on Colfax. An unknown suspect attempted to shatter windows near the entrance with a large rock. “It was purposeful,” said Center CEO Kim Salvaggio. “We know that these moments are not simply random acts of mischief.” [KDVR]

🔋 Denver to Get Hundreds of EV Chargers Next Year

An electric vehicle infrastructure company plans to install roughly 600 EV chargers across the city next year, primarily at affordable housing complexes. The goal is to make electric vehicles more attainable for a wider swath of Denverites, as well as help the city get closer to its climate goals. [Denverite]

  • Colorado loves EVs: In the third quarter of 2025, one in three cars sold in Colorado were electric, setting the highest single-quarter EV adoption rate in the country.

💔 Why the Chauncey Billups News Broke Denver’s Heart

When news broke last week that NBA Hall-of-Famer Chauncey Billups was arrested for allegedly participating in a Mafia-connected poker scam and for potentially sharing inside information on games, the league was left reeling — and so were Denverites. Will this indictment end the career of Denver’s very own “King of Park Hill”? [City Cast Denver 🎧]

⚽ Who’s Not Excited for the New Women’s Soccer Stadium

Lenders who fronted $105 million for bonds to bring mixed-use development to the former Gates Rubber factory site back in 2019 and 2023 won’t be getting what they shelled out for now that the property is slated to become the home of Denver’s new professional women’s soccer stadium (which will be largely exempt from property taxes). Though the city could buy bond-holders out, at least one investor is calling the situation a “significant breach of trust.” [BusinessDen 🔒]

  • Poor timing: It’s an especially delicate time to bring up bad bond feelings as the city asks voters to consider the nearly $1 billion Vibrant Denver bond package.
  • Speaking of: Here’s a closer look at what has been accomplished from Denver’s last two bond packages.
