🥕 Thousands of Coloradans Are About to Lose SNAP Funds

More than 600,000 Coloradans who rely on SNAP food assistance payments are poised to lose their benefits at the end of the month. As the federal shutdown drags into its fourth week, Colorado will not receive its monthly food assistance funding of roughly $120 million. Gov. Polis is asking the Joint Budget Committee to approve an extra $10 million from the state’s general fund to help, but is urging Coloradans who have the means to donate to their local food banks. Anonymous business owners told the Denver Gazette that after pushing back on bike lane infrastructure, they experienced verbal threats, online review bombing, and vandalism at their businesses, allegedly by cyclists. 💢 Residents Rally Against Denver’s Flock Extension

Hundreds of Denverites crowded a town hall meeting Wednesday night to object to Mayor Mike Johnston’s decision to unilaterally extend the city’s contract with Flock surveillance cameras.The ACLU of Colorado called the deal with Flock “a serious threat to the democratic rights of every person in our city.”[CO Newsline]
