🕵️ Authorities seek info in swastika mystery
October 15, 2025 · — Peyton Garcia
Good morning, Denver 🗞️ FYI: Heavy rainfall over the weekend left two small communities in southwestern Colorado — Pagosa Springs and Vallecito — nearly underwater. Flood watches and evacuation orders are expected to remain in place for some areas at least through this morning.

What's CITY Talking About

🚔 JeffCo Authorities Seeking Info on Giant Swastika
As of Tuesday afternoon Jefferson County law enforcement were still seeking information about a giant swastika displayed on a hillside along I-70 over the weekend. The vandalism has since been removed. Anyone with information can leave tips at 303-271-5612. [CPR]
🌳 Denver Dedicates Part of City Park to Native Communities
On Denver’s first officially recognized Indigenous Peoples Day, community officials declared a section of City Park near 17th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard a “living land acknowledgement.” The dedication serves to acknowledge the history of genocidal violence and racism toward Native American communities that took place at the site. The city plans to commit $1.5 million to transform the site into a gathering space for Native communities.

✈️ Why You Won’t See That Viral TSA Video at DIA
The Trump Administration recently released a video that is being played at TSA checkpoints at airports across the country. It features Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem blaming the current government shutdown — and thus, potential travel delays — on Democrats. Both Denver International Airport and the Colorado Springs Airport have chosen not to air the video, but for very different reasons. [City Cast Denver 🎧]
🚩 New Data Center Raises Air Quality Concerns
For more than a century, residents of Denver’s Elyria-Swansea neighborhood have been exposed to toxic fumes and dirty air spewed out by industrial factories and construction projects in the area. Just as the community has finally managed to get attention from state health regulators, plans to construct a new data center in the neighborhood has locals sounding the pollution alarm again. [CPR]
