🎭 Is Denver’s Immersive Art Scene Getting the Ax?

The Denver Center for the Performing Arts announced the closure of Off Center — its immersive theater arm — earlier this week, and Casa Bonita recently sent their roaming characters packing for the Halloween season and replaced them with static installations. Is this the end of Denver’s love affair with interactive art and entertainment? [City Cast Denver 🎧]

🤝 City Announces New Shelter Service Providers

Following a contentious breakup with the Salvation Army earlier this year, the city has unveiled new partnerships with three local service providers — Urban Alchemy, Bayaud Works, and St. Francis Center — to operate Denver’s 24/7 non-congregate shelters starting Jan. 1, 2026 (pending city council approval, that is). Rather than paying providers based on expenses, compensation will be determined by performance outcomes. [City of Denver]

  • Some background: The Salvation Army decided not to renew its contracts with the city for financial reasons, but the decision followed a year of public criticism, negative publicity, and spats with the city. [Denver Post 🔒]

😢 Raíces Brewing Blames City for ‘Forced’ Closure

The west Denver brewery known for its South and Central American craft beers had scathing words to share about the city in a public letter announcing its immediate closure on Wednesday. While facing nearly $100,000 in back taxes and “unexpected charges,” Raíces called its relationship with the city’s taxation department “difficult and exhausting” and allegedly retaliatory.

  • The other side: For its part, the city says it followed proper protocols and attempted to work with the business. “It’s unfortunate that this situation has gotten to this point,” a city spokesperson told The Denver Post. “We want Denver’s businesses to succeed.”

Q: How Will The Government Shutdown Impact Mortgages? -Tony G

A: A government shutdown mainly affects federally backed loans. USDA loans pause completely, FHA loans slow due to limited staffing, and VA loans mostly continue. Conventional loans see minor delays from IRS income verification. Flood insurance renewals halt, and prolonged uncertainty can ripple through rates, confidence, and the housing market overall.
