💩 Neighbors sue Congress Park ‘poop house’ owner
October 9, 2025 · — Peyton Garcia
Good morning, Denver! Attention space nerds: Bust out your telescopes, because the month of October is playing host to seven meteor showers and two comets, most of which should be visible in the Colorado sky, according to local astronomers. What's CITY Talking About?

🏛️ City Council to Vote on Budget Amendments Today
Denver City Council is scheduled to meet today to discuss what changes they will recommend to the mayor for his 2026 budget proposal. With the city facing a $200 million deficit next year, the mayor’s first draft included massive cuts, which received harsh criticism from members of council and other city leaders, including Clerk and Recorder Paul López and City Auditor Tim O’Brien.
- What’s up for debate: Council plans to discuss adjusting funds for things like shelter closures, rental assistance, the Clerk and Recorder’s Office, the Auditor’s Office, bike lanes, and several other city agencies and initiatives.
- Related: While many city agencies will have their funding slashed next year, the Denver Fire Department is one of the few that will see an increase. We asked Fire Chief Desmond Fulton directly about why his department seems to be the exception. [City Cast Denver 🎧]

⛳ Denver Finally Owns Park Hill Golf Course
Nearly nine months since Mayor Mike Johnston announced the land swap proposal to take over ownership of the defunct Park Hill Golf Course, the deal is finally done. Denver residents and city officials have been hotly debating the future of the property for years. Now, Denver can move forward with plans to turn it into a park. [BusinessDen 🔒]
💩 Neighbors Sue Owner of Congress Park ‘Poop House’
If throwing bags of dog poop on the porch isn’t enough to get the attention of the owner of a neglected house on 7th Avenue, neighbors are hoping a lawsuit will be. People in the Congress Park neighborhood are asking a judge to either appoint a caretaker for the abandoned house — which they say has become “an eyesore and a disgrace” — or allow it to be demolished. Who’s Really Winning ‘Love Is Blind’?

Hey City Cast Denver friends! Deep Singh Badhesha here, taking a break from my usual political takes to talk about something equally chaotic: “Love Is Blind” Denver edition.
Hear me out… I know you’re saying, “Deep, why should I care about this?”... and here’s the thing, this show is MASSIVE, typically landing in the top 5 or top 10 most watched shows in the month it airs. (Which makes sense — me and a groupchat of 30+ friends binged 6 episodes in 4 days). Tens of millions of people watch it, and it’ll largely shape what the rest of the country thinks Denverites are like. Sure, this show likely won’t produce a loving couple (seriously, it’s got like a 2% success rate), but it will produce a crop of micro-influencers who’ll stick around shaping Denver’s vibe for years. Whether we like it or not, whoever hits it big from this show will probably be seen around town as featured guests at clubs, brought up at DJ sets at concerts, and even hosting events.
Regardless of who “wins,” we’re all about to spend the next few months doing PR cleanup to rehabilitate Denver's image to those who watched the show. Let me say this clearly on behalf of the city: We do not claim these people.
Who’s Winning So Far?
I’ve been tracking the real “Love Is Blind” game: Instagram followers. The social clout race tells you who’s actually winning the hearts (and eventual brand deals).
Of the top 12 upcoming social celebs, five of them aren’t even in the final couples. Patrick and Kacie (whose relationship imploded spectacularly) are at #2 and #3 in follower growth. Meanwhile, “Sparkles” Megan Walerius somehow keeps shining despite giving off major Nature Valley granola bar energy.
