🍽️ Goodbye servers, hello robots

Good morning, Denver! Here’s a conversation starter for the watercooler crowd: An incredibly rare, tropical bird that hasn’t been seen in Colorado in nearly a century was recently spotted in Broomfield 😯

What's CITY Talking About?

Restaurateur Troy Guard — behind Los Chingones, TAG Burger Bar, HashTAG, and Guard and Grace — says sales across several of his metro Denver restaurants have already dipped 15% this year on top of a 10% drop last year. (John Leyba/The Denver Post via Getty Images)

🍽️ Denver Restaurant Ditches Servers

Though longtime local restaurateur Troy Guard relocated to Houston last year, he says his remaining spots in Denver are still “trying to survive” inhospitable business conditions, including the rising minimum wage. So with the opening of his newest restaurant in the same location where his Los Chingones closed last month, he’s trying something new — QR codes and kiosks instead of servers. If all goes well, he plans to do the same at his other businesses. [Denver Post 🔒]

🚔 DPD’s Plan for an Outreach-First Approach

During his State of the City address last month, Mayor Mike Johnston promised to crack down on crime and public drug use with stronger outreach enforcement, including “sentencing” repeat offenders to treatment if necessary. Law enforcement officials say the goal is to partner with more treatment providers and, hopefully, make fewer arrests. [Denverite]

Spotted Around Town

We love when we spot something cool/weird/wacky around Denver. Like this skeleton sentinel outside the bathrooms at Cart-Driver in RiNo.

Turns out Denver kinda has a thing for cool restrooms. Send us a pic of your favorite toilet tableau.

Have you seen something fun or curious around town recently? We want to see it too!
