🚩 How Serious Are Sloan’s Lake’s Troubles?
The body of water has been struggling with sediment build up, low water levels, and toxic blue-green algae blooms for years — but has it reached a breaking point? 🌿 Tetra Cannabis Lounge Facing License Suspension
Inspectors from the city’s Department of Excise and Licenses allege that on two occasions, cannabis vendors were seen selling and handing out samples of their products at Tetra Lounge. If true, that would be a direct violation of the business’ license agreement. A hearing with the department is scheduled for Oct. 10.
- However: Tetra owner Dewayne Benjamin says he saw a city employee consume a sample from one of the accused vendors. While the officials wouldn’t comment on specifics, they did confirm that the employee in question no longer works for the city. [Denver Post 🔒]
🛫 DIA Moves Forward With Nuclear Power Study
Mayor Mike Johnston and DIA CEO Phil Washington have pulled the trigger on a $1.25 million feasibility study to explore the possibility of building a small nuclear power plant on airport property in order to address DIA’s rapidly growing energy needs. However, environmentalists are raising concerns over high costs, radioactive waste storage, and the possibility of more viable options like solar and wind. [CO Sun]
