👀 A congressman caught in a lie
July 24, 2025 · — Peyton Garcia
It’s Thursday! And there’s just one week left to participate in the City of Denver’s annual school supply drive. You can donate supplies, money, or time! The drive will culminate with the Denver Back To School Fest on August 2, where families can take advantage of free haircuts, health clinics, school supplies, and other community resources ✏️ 🍎

What's CITY Talking About?

🌳 When Will Denver Get Its Park Hill Park?
The old Park Hill Golf Course is definitely — finally — set to become a park. But will the city have enough money to make it a reality? What will it look like when it’s finished? And when will it open to the public? As Denver finalizes the purchase of the land, Denver Parks and Rec’s executive director Jolon Clark gives us the lowdown on the latest for the Park Hill park. 🤔 Who's the Vibrant Denver Bond Really For?
Two bridges in La Alma-Lincoln Park are set to receive roughly $140 million in Vibrant Denver bond funds. The mayor’s people say the area is in desperate need of repairs, but members of council pointed out that those projects are conveniently located at the site being considered for the potential new Broncos stadium, leaving many to wonder how projects are being prioritized. [Denverite]
- What’s next? A council committee advanced the proposal in a 6-1 vote. The full council is set to vote Aug. 4, and if passed, it will head to the ballot in November.
💲 Denver Pastor Indicted on Crypto Scam
A Denver grand jury has indicted a local pastor and his wife on 40 counts of theft and fraud after the couple conned $3.4 million from their church congregation with a cryptocurrency scam. They used the money for home renovations, a new Range Rover, luxury vacations, and other personal expenses. [Westword]
👀 Rep. Gabe Evans Caught In a Lie
Republican Rep. Gabe Evans often points to his own family history when arguing the need for stricter immigration policies, claiming his grandfather was an immigrant from Mexico who entered the U.S. “the legal way.” But official documents recently obtained by Colorado Newsline show not only did Evans’ grandfather enter the country unlawfully, but he also had a criminal record.
- The stakes: Five Dems will challenge Evans for his seat in Colorado’s 8th Congressional District next year, but the incumbent is leading campaign fundraising with $1.7 million in donations. [CO Newsline]
