Navigating Denver Real Estate

Navigating Denver Real Estate

Q: I live in one of the more affordable neighborhoods in Denver, and yet it's rare to see a single family home on the market for under $400k. My brother is a mailman and his wife is a nurse and they haven't been able to find anything. Is there such a thing as a "starter" home anymore?

— Bree Davies, City Cast Denver podcast host

A: The idea of a starter home has changed over the years. With rising prices and limited inventory, it’s about smart compromises: maybe a smaller space, a different location, or a townhome instead of a single-family home. Everyone’s first step into homeownership looks different — and that’s okay.

Last week’s answer: Paco Sanchez Park

The park is named for Frederico "Paco" Sanchez, who hosted one of the first Spanish language radio shows in Denver and later founded the first Latino radio station in the Mile High.
