🎨 First Fridays Get A New Look

The First Friday Art Walk has been experiencing growing pains lately, as vendors fight for space on the crowded sidewalks of Santa Fe Drive. With new plans that could fundamentally change the way the neighborhood festival is laid out, some are worried the event could lose its community feel. [City Cast Denver 🎧]

🏳️‍⚧️ Trans Rights Bill Amended

House Bill 1312 passed out of a Senate committee after being amended to remove the most controversial provisions, which would have required family-court judges to consider one parent’s misgendering or deadnaming of their child in custody proceedings. The bill still protects transgender people from being misgendered or deadnamed — referred to by the name they used before they transitioned — in discrimination laws that apply to workplaces and schools. Navigating Denver Real Estate

Q: We’ve outgrown our house, but we bought it in 2018 and our interest rate is around 3%. We want to buy a bigger home, but how or why would we when the interest rates are so high?

— Bree Davies, City Cast Denver podcast host

A: Yes, rates are higher, but your equity since 2018 might be too. That can help you move up. You could also keep your current home as a rental to keep building equity. If your space no longer fits your life, it might be time. Refinance later if rates drop.
