President Donald Trump voiced support for a bipartisan bill to allow new parent legislators to vote by proxy, which is sponsored by Colorado Democrat Rep. A Day in Denver History: Coors Field Turns 30

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Coors Field! To celebrate, the stadium is rolling out new concession treats, like the green chile brat from Polidori Sausage and the Anniversary Lager from the SandLot Brewery 🌭🍺 Opened in 1995, Coors Field is the third oldest stadium in the MLB league. Here are some Coors Field fun facts:
- Coors Field’s SandLot Brewery is the birthplace of Blue Moon, which also debuted in 1995.
- The field is 21 feet below street level.
- The first official game was played Aug. 26, 1995. The Rockies beat the NY Mets 11-9.
- Because the air is thinner a mile above sea level, baseballs travel roughly 9% farther than at other stadiums.
- The construction of Coors Field was funded by a sales tax approved by voters in counties across the metro area; Denver County voters rejected the tax.
- Dinger, the Rockies’ dino mascot, was named for a dinosaur bone discovered during the stadium’s construction.
- The baseballs have to be stored in a humidor to keep them from drying out, which makes it easier for players to hit a home run.
- The only no-hitter in MLB history was played at Coors Field in 1996 when the Dodgers beat the Rockies 9-0.
You can dive deeper into the history of Coors Field through the documentary “When Colorado Went Major League.” The hour-long feature is by local journalist, news anchor, and filmmaker Kyle Dyer ⚾
