Happy Friday! If you attended the National Western Stock Show’s kickoff parade downtown yesterday, you may have noticed the conspicuous absence of its usual stars — where were the longhorns?! Apparently, they got snowed in at the farm. Whomp, whomp.

The Broncos are on their way to the playoffs for the first time in a long time. But is that enough to sell Denverites on a future tax to fund a new stadium? Or could ownership decide to build new facilities elsewhere? Questions loom as the future of Empower Field hangs in the balance. [City Cast Denver 🎧]
- FYI: The Broncos are up against the Buffalo Bills in the wild card round of the playoffs in New York this Sunday at 11 a.m. MT. It will be Denver’s first playoff appearance since 2016.
🗣️ Colorado’s Place Under Trump 2.0
In his 2025 State of the State address Thursday, Gov. Jared Polis touched on familiar policy priorities — like reforming RTD and continuing the push for housing density — and made headlines for comments on the president-elect’s deportation plans. While Polis said he would not support efforts to “target those on pending legal status (or) to break up families,” he said he does support the detainment and deportation of “dangerous criminals.” [Denver Post 🔒]
🧑⚖️ Lakeside’s Top Cop Pleads Guilty
Robert Gordanier — the man who was formerly the mayor/police chief/fire chief for the tiny Denver suburb of Lakeside — pleaded guilty this week to charges of embezzlement and official misconduct. Gordanier was ordered to pay $26,088 in restitution for buying government vehicles at well below market value then selling them to his daughter (the town clerk) for profit. [CO Sun]
