Where Am I?

Last week’s answer: You can find this larger-than-life writing utensil near the corner of 16th and Champa streets, towering over Denver’s historic University Building. Under the paint, the pencil is actually a decommissioned smokestack that dates all the way back to 1910. The art piece nabbed a 2014 Mayor’s Design Award in the “Distinctive Denver” category. In 2017, the pencil was at risk of being removed for new development, but the plans never came to fruition.
