What's CITY Talking About?

😳 No, Denver Doesn’t Have a ‘Dog Meat Farm’

That alarming new sign looming over South Colorado Boulevard is a satirical campaign from vegan activist Molly Elwood meant to support Initiated Ordinance 309, the upcoming ballot measure to ban slaughterhouses in the city. [Westword]

If you just swap in the word 'dog'...suddenly it is horrific. You would never be okay with this with dogs.

💰 City Council Tweaks Mayor’s Budget Plan

Denver City Council proposed 22 changes to Mayor Mike Johnston’s 2025 budget draft, most of which have the support of a council supermajority. Changes include $29 million in additional funding for after-school programs, eviction defense, and the Denver Basic Income Project. Johnston’s office is expected to respond to the proposals today. Where Is It?

Last week’s answer: The Museum of Outdoor Arts’ Marjorie Park in Greenwood Village

  • The piece pictured, called "The Columbine's Journey," was created through the Museum of Outdoor Arts' Design and Build arts education program for emerging artists. The Museum of Outdoor Arts maintains a vast collection of public art in outdoor spaces across Englewood and Greenwood Village. The MOA’s headquarters is located at Marjorie Park, complete with a private sculpture garden, connected to the Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre. The park plays host to all sorts of community events, including live comedy, movie nights, concerts, and more. Recently, the park re-debuted a new and improved version of its mainstay installation, the Cabinet of Curiosities & Impossibilities, an immersive art piece from the one and only local art whiz Lonnie Hanzon.
