Happy Wednesday 🐪 It’s gonna be a hot one, and Denver Water is kindly asking residents to consider switching their lawn watering schedules from Mon/Wed/Fri to Tue/Thur/Sat to help disperse water demand more evenly 💧

What's CITY Talking About?

🏠 Are ADUs Coming to a Neighborhood Near You?
Denver City Council is considering a proposal that would allow the construction of accessory dwelling units (aka ADUs or “granny flats”) in all of Denver’s residential neighborhoods. Currently, this type of housing is only permitted in certain areas. [Denverite]
- Share your thoughts: The city is soliciting community input on the proposal through an online form. There will also be a virtual town hall on the matter tonight from 6-7:30 p.m.
💰 Mayor’s Affordable Housing Tax Hike Goes to the Ballot
In November, Denver voters get to decide for themselves whether to implement a new 0.5% sales tax increase that’s expected to generate about $100 million annually for affordable housing. Despite lingering questions and concerns over the mayor’s ambitious new tax endeavor, City Council passed the proposed ballot measure 9-4 on Monday. [Denverite]
🚍 Good News for Public Transit Commuters
RTD is promising a “noticeable” increase in bus and train service next year now that it’s been able to replenish its driving staff, which was slashed during the pandemic. New service offerings are expected as soon as January. [CPR]

🏙️ The Most Denver-y Places in Denver

⛷️ Is This the End of Denver’s Labor Day Ski Sale Tradition?
The 70-year-old Denver tradition of holding a massive ski and snowboard sale over Labor Day weekend will look a little different this year for the two companies that usually honor the custom. The annual event that began in 1954 as “Sniagrab” would often have eager patrons camped outside the store for days ahead of the exclusive sale. This year though, Christy Sports plans to move the event online. Meanwhile, rival company Epic Mountain Gear is extending its Epic Drop sale to run for a whole month starting this Friday. … People standing around in 98-degree parking lots, it’s hard to get excited about putting on a ski jacket when you’re about to pass out.
