🎷 Major Renovations Planned for the Rossonian

The Denver Landmark Preservation Commission has OK’d renovations for the historic Rossonian Hotel in Five Points. Design plans include adding eight stories of new hotel space, a restaurant, a bar, and a music lounge to the iconic landmark. [Westword]

🎭 Curious Theatre’s Old Converted Church for Sale

Denver’s Curious Theatre Company has listed its longtime home — a 130-year-old converted church in Golden Triangle — for sale. Earlier this year, the company launched a public fundraising campaign in hopes of turning around its current “financial crisis,” but was unable to meet its goal by the July deadline. [BusinessDen 🔒]

We don’t have a clear plan yet, but we’re figuring it out … We think it’s the way for us to continue operating, not something that indicates we’re going to close.
Jeannene Bragg, Curious Theatre’s managing director

💰 Where Does Your Denver Tax Money Go?

If Denver voters approve the two new sales tax increases potentially headed to the ballot this fall, Denverites could go from paying 8.81% in sales tax to a whopping 9.65% — a likely possibility considering Denverites have voted to raise taxes by more than 30% in the last six years. [Axios Denver]

📈 How’s the Mayor Doing?

Just how popular is Mayor Johnston now that he’s been in office for a year? A new poll gives insight into the city leader’s work and looks at how residents feel about housing affordability, homelessness, and more. [City Cast Denver 🎧]

  • How do YOU think the mayor’s doing? If you could give Johnston a letter grade for his first year in office, what would it be and why?
