What's CITY Talking About?
🚉 When Will RTD Be Back Up to Speed?
Recent RTD rail maintenance has resulted in station closures, schedule disruptions, and “slow down zones” that drop train speeds to a painfully slow 10 miles per hour. In fact, the changes have frustrated commuters so much, RTD officials hosted a press conference last Friday to address concerns. While they don’t want to make any promises they can’t keep, RTD is optimistic that they can make “significant progress” by September. [CPR]
❌ Jeffco Republican Censured Over Dave Williams Drama
The Jefferson County Republican party has formally censured chairwoman Nancy Pallozzi after she began circulating a petition to remove Colorado GOP chair Dave Williams following his recent anti-Pride emails. Despite receiving enough signatures to call a special meeting on the matter, the Jeffco Republican party stated that Pallozzi’s actions are not “in the best interest” of the party. [CPR]
🏫 More School Closures, Consolidations Expected
Last week, the Denver school board unanimously approved a new protocol for closing and consolidating schools in response to declining enrollment. The district faced public pushback after closing three schools last year due to low student numbers. With more closures and consolidations likely on the horizon, the new policy defines when such measures would be deemed necessary and how schools at risk are identified. [Chalkbeat]
