🛒 AG Weiser Sues to Block Safeway-Kings Merger

Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser has filed a lawsuit to block the $24.6 billion merger between Kroger and Albertsons. For the last year, the AG has been heading a multi-state investigation into the merger over antitrust law violations. Weiser says the consolidation would give Kroger a 50% market share and eliminate competition between stores, driving up prices for shoppers. [CO Sun]

🏞️ NPS Eyes Historic Black Homestead

Dearfield, a historic Black settlement located in Weld County, is being considered for National Park designation. Following two community meetings last month, NPS officials are asking the public for input on the decision, including how the site should be managed and what kind of activities visitors would like to see there. The survey’s deadline is Feb. 24. [CPR]

❓ Historic Chinatown Plaque Missing

Colorado Asian Pacific United (CAPU) is hoping the public can help replace — if not recover — a historic marker commemorating Denver’s historic Chinatown that went missing in December. It’s unclear what happened to the marker, whether it was stolen or perhaps knocked down in an accident. CAPU has published a GoFundMe to raise money to re-make and reinstall the plaque, but ideally they’d like the original one back. [Denverite]
