What's CITY Talking About?
🚉 New RTD Safety Measures in Aurora
Next year, RTD plans to install a new automatic braking system on a section of its R-Line light-rail in Aurora where two speeding trains have derailed in recent years causing serious injuries to passengers. RTD officials expect the year-long project to cost $876,000. [CPR]
🏠 Holly Hills Micro-Community Canceled
Mayor Mike Johnston has announced the city will not be moving forward with a micro-community that was planned for 5500 East Yale Avenue in the South Denver community of Holly Hills. The mayor cited a “combination of logistical and operational challenges” as the main reason, but the neighborhood’s residents have been pretty vocal in their pushback of the site. [Westword]
- Hear from the mayor: We spoke with Johnston about how exactly he decides which neighborhoods will get a micro-community and which ones won’t. [City Cast Denver 🎧]
