What's CITY Talking About?

🏫 DPS Parents Are Ready for a Change

Denver parents, teachers, and students are getting antsy for November’s school board election. The last year has been rife with tension, infighting, and scrutiny for the district’s decision makers. In the wake of a shooting at East High School that left two administrators injured, followed by demands for changes to the district’s safety protocols, parents have begun calling for an overhaul of leadership. A group of community members even formed the Resign DPS Board movement, often attending board meetings in protest. [Denver Post 🔒]

😬 Boebert Says Sorry

Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert has issued a public apology after she was kicked out of a performance of “Beetlejuice” the musical at DCPA last weekend. Fellow show-goers complained to DCPA staff that the congresswoman was recording the show with her phone, singing along loudly, and vaping during the performance. Boebert originally denied some of the accusations, but released security footage proved her wrong. [CPR]
