June 15, 2023
Good morning, Denver! If you’re going to today’s Championship Rally and Parade, here’s what you need to know 🎉 (And if you’re not going, you’ll still probably want to know which roads will be closed and for how long 👀)

What's CITY Talking About?
🚗 Denver Looks to Create More ‘Safe Parking Sites’
Earlier this month, Denver City Council voted (12-1) to continue to allow “safe parking sites” — city-sanctioned parking lots where people living in their vehicles can park overnight — within the city. The initiative was initially born from the pandemic and was scheduled to expire in December, but council’s latest move codifies its existence into city zoning laws. Now, council is looking to potentially increase the budget and add at least two more sites to the two already in operation. [Westword]
💰 Local Eviction Firm Accused of Stealing from Renters
The Colorado Poverty Law Project has filed a class-action lawsuit against Tschetter Sulzer, P.C., a company that touts itself as the “No. 1 eviction firm in Colorado.” The suit claims that Tschetter Sulzer is preying on renters facing eviction who don’t have legal counsel by stealing money under the guise of “attorney fees and court costs.” Under state law, if a tenant can pay what is owed and cure the eviction, it’s illegal for a landlord to charge those kinds of fees.
