🚨 Monday Night Shooting Dampens Nuggets Victory Celebrations

Late Monday night, while the streets of Denver were alive with raucous post-Nuggets game revelry, a shooting near Coors Field left 10 people injured. Denver police have stated the incident was likely a drug deal gone wrong and not related to the victory celebrations. However, several of the injured individuals appear to have been innocent Nuggets fans. The investigation is ongoing. [CPR]

📚 Westwood Library is Getting a Facelift

Denver Public Library officials have announced the Westwood Branch will be closed for eight weeks starting today while it undergoes a much-needed makeover. Currently DPL’s smallest location, the renovations are expected to expand library space by 50% and add a new computer lab. This project will be the first to use money from the city’s new DPL fund approved by voters last November. [Denverite]

🏗️ A Sneak Peek of the New Cherry Creek West

The firm in charge of Cherry Creek’s massive redevelopment project on the west side of the Cherry Creek Shopping Center has released updated renderings of the plan which will replace a sea of parking lots and vacant storefronts with mixed-use retail / residential / office space. The most notable change to the plan is the shift from the site being pedestrian-only to now including a “shared street” approach that will sometimes allow vehicles in the area. [BusinessDen 🔒]

• “Swallow Hill Music is hosting the Shady Grove Concert Series in partnership with Four Mile. Every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. from now until July 20, [there will be] Colorado artists from all over the state in a nice, family-picnic-style event.”

☕ After sharing our neighborhood guide on North Cap Hill a few weeks ago, Cheyenne M. wanted to add a recommendation:

• “Gotta give a shoutout to Weathervane Cafe on 17th and Williams. I stop in any chance I get for an oat milk latte and their Denver Turkey sandwich. The space is intimate, beautifully curated, and relaxing. Plus they sell great gifts!”

📍 Tori M. also shared some Uptown favorites:

• “My favorite part about being in the Uptown area is how walkable it is, how you can get to other neighborhoods from it really easily (either via bus or by foot if you’re able). Marczyk’s is a true gem, Coperta is lovely for a date night, and Dew Drop Inn is such a cute spot for a night cap.”

🏳️‍🌈 Regarding the news about a new cafe on Santa Fe being boycotted over anti-LGBTQ sentiments, Felix H. said:

• "Santa Fe loves its coffee hot and gay. Or at least not homophobic. We appreciate the mention and education you and the City Cast team provide."
